BVLGARI has once again pushed the boundaries of watchmaking with their latest creations unveiled at the 2023 Geneva Watch Days. The Octo Finissimo CarbonGold series introduces a stunning fusion of carbon material and rose gold, resulting in a luxurious and stylish effect.
Consisting of two exceptional timepieces, the Octo Finissimo CarbonGold Automatic and Octo Finissimo CarbonGold Perpetual Calendar, this collection showcases BVLGARI's dedication to innovation and design. Building on the success of their previous models crafted from titanium, platinum, rose gold, yellow gold, ceramic, and tantalum, this year's releases feature the contrast of coal black carbon material with the radiant allure of rose gold.
Both watches are meticulously forged from carbon, creating a unique flowing pattern across the case, bezel, and dial. Luxurious rose gold accents grace the crown, hour markers, and hands, adding a touch of opulence to the avant-garde and refined aesthetic. By combining this carbon and rose gold combination, BVLGARI has reimagined the Octo Finissimo Automatic (known for setting a world record in 2017 for ultra-thin watches) and the Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar (which achieved a world record in 2021 for its ultra-thin design).
The dial design features a carbon face complemented by golden hour markers, hands, and crown. The addition of a small seconds sub-dial allows for unhindered appreciation of the meticulous design that extends from the dial to the case and strap, showcasing a sophisticated yet understated charm.
Turning the watches over reveals a coordinated design on the case back, held in place by eight precious metal screws. The movement is showcased through a transparent case back, featuring rose gold bridges and a rose gold-plated platinum oscillating weight. Both models boast transparent case backs, showcasing the movement with its intricately decorated Geneva waves (Côte de Genève) on rose gold bridges and the rose gold-plated platinum rotor. This contrast in colors can be admired from both the dial side and the exhibition case back, making it a true delight for connoisseurs.
Powering the Octo Finissimo CarbonGold watches is the BVL 138 automatic winding movement. Additionally, the Octo Finissimo CarbonGold Perpetual Calendar draws inspiration from the Octo Finissimo Perpetual Calendar that won the GPHG Golden Hand Award in 2021. Housing the BVL 305 automatic winding movement with a thickness of just 2.75mm, this movement maintains accuracy for up to 2100 years without adjustments. The carbon-gold version of this movement maintains a case thickness of 7.6mm.
The Octo Finissimo CarbonGold Automatic carries a price tag of $26,800, while the CarbonGold Perpetual Calendar is priced at $89,000.
