Among dive watches few names are as established as Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms. For decades it has represented the benchmark for underwater timekeeping. In 2025 Blancpain updates this classic with the launch of the Fifty Fathoms Tech-nicolors, the first model in the series to feature an easy one-click quick-release strap system. The watch comes in a 45 mm Grade 23 titanium case and includes three interchangeable rubber straps, offering a balance of strong technical performance and everyday wearability.
Inspiration from a Legendary Past
“If the Fifty Fathoms were invented today what would it look like?” This question from Blancpain President Marc A. Hayek on the model’s 70th anniversary sparked a new creative journey. In 2023 Blancpain presented the Fifty Fathoms Tech Gombessa as its answer. Designed for long-duration dives it featured a 47 mm case a bezel calibrated for three-hour underwater missions and the proprietary Caliber 13P8 automatic movement representing the peak of professional dive technology.
Building on that foundation the Tech-nicolors brings the same uncompromising DNA into a more wearable 45 mm format. Now part of the core collection rather than a limited edition it allows a wider audience to experience a watch that moves naturally between the deep sea and daily life.

Design Innovation with Everyday Ease
The heart of the Tech-nicolors lies in its hidden quick-release mechanism set discreetly behind the lugs. With a simple press the wearer can change straps without tools. Each watch includes three rubber straps and the buyer can select any two — classic black bright white or lively orange. The orange details echo the “TECH” marking at six o’clock and the seconds hand bringing a touch of energy to the watch’s functional design.
“We wanted a professional dive watch that feels alive in everyday life” says Marc A. Hayek. “Color and convenience let the Fifty Fathoms move effortlessly from deep water to the street.”

Enduring Performance
Though modern in spirit the Tech-nicolors remains a true dive instrument. The case is made of Grade 23 titanium, light strong and resistant to corrosion. The 120-click unidirectional ceramic bezel provides precise control even when operated with gloves. The matte black dial absorbs up to 97 percent of light ensuring excellent legibility underwater, while large luminous markers keep time clear in darkness.
The watch offers 300 meters of water resistance and features a helium escape valve to handle the pressure of deep dives. Inside beats the Caliber 1315A automatic movement delivering a robust five-day power reserve and a 4 Hz frequency. Through the sapphire crystal back the finely finished movement reveals the craftsmanship that defines Blancpain’s watchmaking.

From Depth to Daily Wear
Each Tech-nicolors comes in a custom Peli™case known for its waterproof and shock-resistant durability. Practical and reusable it mirrors the watch’s all-terrain versatility from underwater expeditions to everyday adventures.

A New Chapter for Blancpain
The Fifty Fathoms Tech-nicolors marks more than a technical upgrade. It signals a design transformation that celebrates both precision and personality. While preserving the Fifty Fathoms’ professional spirit built over seven decades it introduces lighter proportions vibrant color and a user-friendly quick-release system.
Seamlessly crossing the boundary between tool watch and lifestyle companion it is equally at home beneath the waves or under city lights. Whether diving into the ocean, strolling through summer streets or gazing across a skyline, the Tech-nicolors stand as a confident and captivating partner on the wrist.
